FISHING IN THE POLAR CIRCLE

Accommodation:

Cottages "Ounasvaaran Pirtit" are located in a picturesque mountainous area of Rovaniemi on the banks of the Kemijoki River. The advantage of the complex is a high-quality developed infrastructure: reception, a restaurant with 300 seats, a grocery store, proximity to the city center and at the same time privacy in nature. Distances: Rovaniemi city center 3 km, airport 8 km, railway station 5 km.

Apartments 3* (2+2 ): 21 m2, studio apartment: 2 separate beds and 2 loft beds (low loft with sloping ceilings). Kitchen: stove, microwave, refrigerator, dishes. In the cottage: sauna, shower, toilet, TV, telephone.

Apartment 4* (4+2): 41 m2, 2 bedrooms (each with 2 separate beds) and 2 extra beds in one of the bedrooms (folding up the second tier). Kitchen: stove, microwave, refrigerator, dishes. Sauna, shower, toilet, TV, telephone.

Apartments 4* (6 +2): 85 m2, 3 bedrooms: each with 2 separate beds and 2 extra beds on the second floor in the sleeping alcove. Kitchen: stove, microwave, refrigerator, dishes. Sauna, shower, toilet. TV, telephone.       

Breakfast is included in the cost of living in all types of apartments.        

Leisure:

In the complex on the banks of the river there is a log sauna for 20 people with a cozy living room and a fireplace and an outdoor hot tub. Next to the sauna is a terrace with access to the river. Sauna is available for rent on request.

Various excursion programs are also offered: visits to a dog farm, a deer farm, the Ranua Zoo, the village of Santa Claus and the Arctic Circle, Santa Park, the Arktikum Museum, and much more.

How to get there:

Flight to Rovaniemi airport or train from Helsinki to Rovaniemi.

Fishing:

Independent fishing on the river from the shore or on a rented motor boat is possible.

Fishing license 10 €/week

Spinning rod rental 10 €/day, 50 €/week

Life jacket rental 10 €/day, 50 €/week

Rent a boat with a 10 hp motor (max 5 pax) 90 €/day, 450 €/week

Services of a fishing guide (including Russian speaking) 150 € / 3 h, 35 € / add. h

Fishing on the Kemijoki River 3 hours
Fishing with a guide in motorboats on the Kemijoki River.
Fishing method: spinning and trolling.
Catch: trout, rainbow trout, rarely taimen, perch, pike.
Duration of fishing 3 hours.
Price: included in the price of the tour package.
The price includes: transfer, equipment, license, guide services.

Fishing on the rapids of Vantauskoski 4 hours
10:00-10:30 Transfer to the rapids (25 km).
10:30-13:30 Fly fishing or spinning from the shore.
Catch: taimen, trout, rainbow trout, grayling.
The threshold is about 1 km long, 200-300 m wide.
Duration of fishing 3 hours.
13:30-14:00 Transfer to cottages
Price: 190 €/group 1-8 people + 15 €/person
The price includes: transfer, equipment, guide services, snacks and soft drinks.

Fishing on Lake Kemijärvi 8 h
10:00-11:00 Transfer to Kemijärvi (90 km).
11:00-15:00 Trolling from motor boats. 2 boats for trolling with a capacity of 8 people. each. 4-6 rods can be set to trolling at the same time on each boat. The most likely catch is pike and perch, but trout and zander are also possible.
The size of the lake is 30 km long and 1-5 km wide in different places.
Fishing duration 4 hours, program duration 8 hours
Lunch on the beach around the fire.
15:00-16:00 Return to the cottages.
Price: 630 €/group 1-8 people + 42 €/person
