Flight from Kuwait to Bahrain.
It is the peak of our trip, we will take part in an incredible world-class show — Bahrain Formula 1 Grand Prix. But in the morning we will still see the city (only in the spring tour, the autumn tour has an excursion on this day).
Today, we take a break from Formula 1 to explore Bahrain. Our itinerary includes:
Al-Fatih Mosque — one of the largest mosques in the world, accommodating over 7,000 believers. It’s the largest temple and most famous landmark in Bahrain. The mosque's dome, made of fiberglass, weighs 60 tons, making it the largest structure of its kind. The chandelier was custom-made in Austria, the floor is Italian marble, and the doors are crafted from Indian teak wood. Tourists can visit on all days except Fridays and holidays.
Muharraq Island — the second largest island in the Bahrain archipelago. Here, we will visit:
The Palace of Sheikh Isa bin Ali — a large house with four courtyards, carved wooden doors, and plaster ceilings, once home to royal dynasty members and high-ranking guests. Now it is a museum.
House of Sheikh Ibrahim (Center for Culture and Research) — a traditional old house from the mid-19th century, now a modern center for culture and research with a large hall for 300 people, hosting various cultural, sociological, and political forums.
House Kurar — a museum dedicated to preserving the unique Bahraini art of Kurar embroidery. The center supports artisans in producing and marketing their work.
World Trade Center. We'll make a photo stop opposite this iconic structure.
Bazaar Bab Al Bahrain. A vibrant marketplace perfect for shopping and experiencing local culture.
Lunch will be at a traditional restaurant.
For the second part of our tour, we will visit:
Fort Kalat al Bahrain — an artificial hill formed from cultural layers accumulated over time. It dates from 2300 BC to the 18th century AD, with contributions from various civilizations, including the Persians and Portuguese. Archaeological excavations are ongoing, revealing a variety of structures from residential buildings to religious sites, military barracks, and public institutions.
Royal Camel Farm — home to 500 camels and owned by the uncle of the current king of Bahrain. Visitors can feed, pet, and photograph the camels, and might even see baby camels if they're lucky.
Tree of Life — a lone acacia that has been thriving in the desert for over 400 years. The tree stands on a sand hill far from water sources, and scientists are puzzled about how it sustains itself. Some believe it has deep roots reaching underground water, though this hasn’t been proven. Local legend suggests the tree grows where the Garden of Eden once stood.
This itinerary offers a mix of cultural, historical, and natural highlights, showcasing the rich diversity of Bahrain.
