This is our first Expedition to this mysterious country, the true East with all its traditions. Our Expedition has been designed along the safest possible route with reliable partners (local tour operators). As always, we have included high-level hotels and meals in the price. The tour to Afghanistan in 2026 will be in a small group, with only the last spots remaining. There will be just 10 of us.
The tour will begin upon arrival in Kabul. On the first day, we will get acquainted with the city and the main sites we plan to visit during the trip. If we have time, we will visit several places in Kabul, such as the National Museum, the Old Palace, Babur’s Garden and Palace, the Birds Market, the Mausoleums of Abdul Rahman Khan and King Zahir Shah, the Omer Landmine Museum, and the TV Tower Hill for a panoramic view.
We will drive north across the Shomali Plains and have lunch at a local restaurant. After that, we will cross the Shibar Pass (3285 m) and continue to Bamiyan. The total drive will take about 8 hours.
We will start the day early and have breakfast together. Then we will visit the Buddha niches and the cliff caves. After that, we will go to Shahr-I-Golgola, destroyed by Genghis Khan. Today we will hike up to Shahr-e-Zohak. After lunch in the bazaar, we will drive to the Valley of the Dragon and return to Bamiyan in the evening. (Overnight: Noor Band Qala Hotel)
We will visit the lakes of Band-e-Amir and spend time walking around the area. The lakes are famous for their intense natural colors. In the afternoon, we will return to Bamiyan.
We will drive to Mazar-i-Sharif. There we will visit the famous shrine of Ali and walk around the main square. We will also explore the local carpet markets.
We will spend the day exploring the city, including the Blue Mosque and nearby landmarks.
We will visit the historic city of Balkh in the morning. After the visit, we will return to Mazar-i-Sharif for the evening.
We will leave early and drive through the Salang Tunnel (3363 m), built by the Soviets. We will pass Charikar and return to Kabul.
We will drive to the Panjshir Valley, visit Ahmad Shah Massoud’s grave and his headquarters in Astana. We will spend time in the village of Pul-i-Sayad, where we will have the option to stay overnight or return to Kabul.
Departure home.
