Arrival in Djibouti City

Meet the Bambu team on arrival and transfer to your hotel. Dinner and overnight at Djibouti Alia Hotel.

After breakfast, set out on a Djibouti City tour, taking in the historic downtown and the central market. Continue on the South Circuit to cross the Grand Bara Desert and visit the town of Ali Sabieh. Lunch at Palmaraie Ali Sabieh, then drive toward Lace Abbeh, making scenic stops along the way. On arrival, see the largest limestone chimney, enjoy sunset among the chimneys, then have dinner and overnight at Lac Abbeh Tourist Camp (Asboley).

Very early wake-up for sunrise: drive to the area of the small chimneys, then visit the hot springs and look for pink flamingos on the lake. After exploring Lace Abbeh, return to the tourist camp for breakfast. Continue to Dikhil for lunch, stopping en route at Kouta Bouya to visit local villages. After a short Dikhil sightseeing (lunch at La Palmeraie), set off to Lace Assal, Africa’s lowest point. On the way, pause at dramatic canyon viewpoints and fault lines in the Danakil Depression.

Lace Assal (Arabic Bahr al Assal, “sea of honey”), 153 m below sea level, lies about 107 km west of Djibouti City. After visiting Lac Assal and its surroundings, drive back to Djibouti City for dinner and overnight at Alia Hotel.

After breakfast, depart for Hargeisa. Cross the Lawda border and make scenic stops along the route. Dinner and overnight at Damal Hotel.

After breakfast, visit Hargeisa’s livestock market, famous for its camel trade and pastoral culture. Then drive about 50 km to Laas Geel to explore its extraordinary rock-art caves, dated roughly 5,000–4,000 BCE—widely regarded as one of Africa’s most important Neolithic rock-art sites. The complex includes around 20 shelters, some with panels up to 10 meters long, with remarkably vivid pigments.

After a lunch break, continue to Berbera on the Red Sea, the former capital of British Somaliland. Take a town tour, including the Berbera market, then return to Hargeisa for dinner and overnight at Damal Hotel.

Morning arrival in Mogadishu with African Airways or Air Djibouti. Meet the Bambu representative and transfer to your hotel for check-in. After lunch, begin discovering this remarkable city—scarred yet captivating. With an armed security escort, visit Hamarweyn Market and the surrounding Hamarweyn quarter, the old town known for its picturesque Arab- and Moorish-influenced architecture, carved stone façades, and cool inner courtyards. Dinner and overnight at a secure hotel in Mogadishu.

Morning after breakfast, escorted with the armed security, visit the atmospheric fish market where fishermen bring and sell huge sword fish, sharks and other marine giants, visit Arba Rancoon Mosque, the Cathedral, Berta Salaanta, the unknown Soldiers monument and the Parliament area. Lunch break at Liido beach with old lighthouse, visit Banadir the crumbling Italian colonial waterfront and kat market as well as the harbor in the afternoon. Back to hotel for dinner and O/N Mogadisho Safe hotel.
