Marrakech is the soul and heart of Moroccan East and was once the country’s capital. The city, nestled at the foot of the Atlas Mountains, is located inland, about 3-4 hours from Casablanca and Agadir. Each year, tourists from around the world flock here. The old city is encircled by a long wall. The Medina’s center, Jemaa-El-Fna Square, is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site. The entire old part of the city is, quite literally, an open-air museum. Nearby are the Mausoleum of Yusuf ibn Tashfin, the Mosque of Golden Apples, and a palace.
